Bidra med feedbackThis restaurant does not deserve its current reviews here. The food was pretty average. Maybe compared to other Big Bear Esseries, this gets gourmet rides, but it's average hotel price best. You have a big wine list. The waiting staff consisted of 17-22 years, many of which saw lost. Of the 4 different cocktails we tried were 2 good, 2 missing character. Wouldn't return.
It is regrettable that the Black Kat has changed the menu. We had eaten there several times when the Restuarant first opened and the meals were unforgettable. Not so much. Darn.
Bad service and management made this a bad experience. Food was decent, but certainly restaurant charged prices for a raised place. The wine list is good and cheap. Wine flights were among par. At the end, an distracted and disorganized server overshadowed all good features. No bread was offered and another server was recognized halfway through the meal. No one asked about allergies while you pretend to be a good restaurant. In the end, Halibut was cooked on the same grill as mussels. I had an allergic reaction, but there was little consciousness or recognition of it. No one seemed to manage the place and we had to deal with our server that certainly didn't have much interest in it.
Service was terrible, server didn't know about the food. She was beautiful enough, but far away from knowledge. Another employee wanted to clear our plates, so we finally gave them to our hands with mouth full of food and forks. That was a little annoying. The wine list is overrated and WAY is overpriced. It definitely seems like a “wannabe” restaurant. Everything's overestimated. The food was really good, but that was the only positive about our experience. Server said they had no potatoes, but somehow my scallops came on the plate with potatoes. I got more confused. I'm glad I didn't pay the $46 for the Venison I really wanted to try. I would have ordered it if our server knew how it was prepared and what it came with. All about this place, except as the food tasted, was annoying and a complete farewell.
The food was delicious and the wine selection was impeccable. Glad we made a reservation because it was the busiest ski day of the year and there were many angry people getting turned away by the hostesses.
