Stahlberg Alter Markt - Bielefeld

Service: A disgrace. Just because you have a pretty face does not mean you cannot be friendly. Incident: On Sunday evening, the 6th of September, I entered Stahlberg with my Mother and Sister who were visiting for a week. It was about 21:45, but the place was half full and the Kitchen looked busy. We got drinks fairly quickly from an unfriendly waitress. Then it took about 20 minutes for us to decide on dinner as I had to translate the menu for my Mother and Sister. We ordered and 5 mins later the waitress came back and said that the Kitchen was only doing Pizza and Paninis? What? It was now 22:10 and perhaps we were too late for any where else? We immediately got up to go, leaving half our drinks behind. We were now in a hurry to find a restaurant. On leaving I was presented with the entire bill for the drinks? You are joking me, right? You made the mistake of not telling me the Kitchen was closing for more than Pizza and now I have to pay for your mistake. This level of service is quite shocking. I asked was there to be no Rabatt given her mistake? She said that she didn 't know they were going to close the Kitchen. It was all some sick joke. How the hell am I meant to know if she didn 't know? She told me that she had apologized and she could do no more. At a minimum I expected to be told there was no need to pay for the drinks and for a full and forthright apology. But no, it was clear I had to pay the full amount for half drunken drinks. Luckily Vapiano was still open around the corner and we had a nice meal there. Outcome: I have lived in Bielefeld since Sept 2007 and have regularly gone to Stahlberg with both friends and family. After this experience I will never go back. You have lost a customer. Tschüss!

It's not called Stahlbergs anymore. Cafe Buur! Excellent loved it

There was a lunch on a sunny afternoon with a friend of mine. Loved Thier-Chickpea stew. Couldn't really understand the bad reviews here just because they implemented 2G.

Comfortable, warm and welcoming environment. High quality food, super nice staff and excellent drinks. I was pleasantly surprised by the pizza (better than some tried in Italy and the great selection of typical German dishes (lecker!). In a night in Germany this was definitely my favorite place. I recommend the gluh wine, warm and tasty cure for the cold.

My local lunch place, really nice food with a weekly changing menu. Great outside dining. Good value for money and they use high quality products. Very good selection of wines as well. Staff is friendly and professional, although at rush hour times you sometimes need to bring a bit of patience, as it can get very busy.
