The Met Bethesda

Nothing special. comfortable for eating after the films. otherwise we wouldn't run back.

Food is good but service is always lacking. The green guru salad had no Brussels sprouts and was 95% kale.

We made a reservation based on reviewing the brunch and lunch menus on The Met 's website. Made a reservation on a Saturday afternoon for the very next day. We arrived to a pretty empty restaurant and were seated promptly. When we were given our lunch menus I asked for a brunch menu and was told Oh, we no longer do brunch. Had we known, we would have chosen another restaurant. But we stayed because we did not have time to drive somewhere else. No apology from the waiter, followed by lackadaisical service and okay food. One and done at this place.

When we arrived the server wasn't even aware that they served brunch. The brunch portions were small and didn't include anything with them (toast, fruit, home fries, etc. . What we had was decent, but way overpriced. Look elsewhere for brunch.

I want to like this restaurant. I really do. I love one of their dishes, the rice bowl. And the setting is a decent one, even though it is in an upscale mall. But more often than not, I 've been quite let down by the service. Last time for example, I let the hostess know that it was my wife 's birthday. She even double-checked to ask if it was her birthday and I said yes. But then, at the table, absolutely nothing was done to acknowledge or celebrate. The food is fine, if not good. But if you consistently walk way wishing the service were better, you just might walk way... for good.
