Its depth of 82 m makes it the deepest lake in the Puys chain. It is a recent formation, of the order of 6900 years. It is a meromic lake, i.e. not subtracting from the water more deeply than 60 m, those between 60 and 92 m accumulating gas carbon dioxide, nitrogen, methane and hydrogen sulphide, related to the decomposition of organic matter and which gives it a nausea odor.
A wonder, even more in the autumn with the leaves that take golden shades
Beautiful walk, forbidden swimming, damage, nice trails, shaded
Magnificent lake with sunshine and this silence that rejuvenates us
The lake tower is worth it, in less than 1 hour at a quiet pace, the atmosphere is superb. There are some very curious lava samples.
