Good food, good service. A nice place to unwind with a drink or three.
Open late and on Sundays, the Happ's dark, inviting walls beckon night owls and those looking for late-night inspiration after conventional hours. Here, you can enjoy hearty, flavorful dishes overflowing with that rare homemade essence, while the bartenders and staff foster a relaxed vibe—whether you're dining or just unwinding. It's also worth noting that the drinks here are among the finest you could find in a town with under 20,000 residents. Prepared with care, they are generous in spirit yet crafted with skill and precision. The Gin and Tonic, Long Island Iced Tea, Whiskey Sour, and Tom Collins all exceed expectations—deliciously mixed with high-quality ingredients and ample alcohol. Additionally, the beer selection is excellent, with a 32-ounce pour available for just $3.50. In summary, this is the best bar you could find outside of a larger urban area, offering the warm ambiance of an old-fashioned pub. It’s an exceptionally satisfying spot for a venue of its size, creating a friendly atmosphere that makes you feel right at home.
Last weekend, my sisters and I went to Hawaii Night and had a fantastic experience. As soon as we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by other patrons at the door. It was a lively evening, and the place was packed. Fortunately, we managed to snag a few seats at the bar, where we enjoyed our drinks while listening to some great local karaoke performances. Before we knew it, we found ourselves joining in and singing "Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy." Eventually, we were able to grab a table and ordered some delicious cornballs. We're not quite sure what ingredients are in them, but they were really tasty! The Mop burger was also fantastic. We can't wait to return to Bern this summer and are looking forward to visiting Hap's again!
Guinness on tap! That's a great addition for Haps Place. Things are definitely looking up. As long as you stick to a bag of chips, you should have a good experience. The atmosphere will only get better if the smoking ban goes into effect. The owners, Troy and his wife, are genuinely nice people who are committed to making improvements. The future seems bright for this little tavern in Bern.
