Gasthaus Schindewolf - Berkatal

We had ordered a table for 6:00 on November 10,22. 30 minutes outside the door and no one has opened. We learned by telephone information that the owners went on vacation without canceling appointments. This is not the case!!!! Food: 5 Service: 1 atmosphere: 4

I'm glad there's something like that. A real guest house with guest house in the lower floor (eating is currently in the morning, midday and evening, in between closed) and rooms on the upper floor. The quality of the food is quite high, there are among other things wild and schnitzel specialities as well as seasonal dishes, during our stay about wonderful asparagus. We would have stayed longer than two days to taste more of the menu. The rooms are inexpensive and tidy, all with private bathroom and partly with beautiful spacious balcony. In front of the Gaststube is a large terrace, which is mainly offered for lunch, in the evening this side is in the shade and it is quickly cool. Attention: terrace, guest room and only right rooms are only accessible via stairs. Of course, this is not a four-star house. There is no spa, no hair in the room, and you will find a small deficiency here and there. For us it is exactly what we are looking for, our wellness oasis consisting of simple, family hospitality, very good food, and the location in the midst of beautiful hiking areas. In particular, the premium hiking trail P2 is available, which can be started directly at the inn and which I highly recommend and which has given us a beautiful coffee break in Wolfterode. Not far from the inn, there is also a tegut supermarket, which we used for further detour. I mention these infrastructures existing in May 2022, as the supply situation in the region is no longer so natural. Even at the High Meißner you no longer necessarily encounter an open gastronomy. The Berggasthof has long closed whether and when the gastronomy has opened in the Naturfreundehaus, we have not found out.
