Med Playa Hotels S.l. - Benalmádena

This hotel is still being featured as 4 star accommodation. Management are still reiterating that they take customer comments seriously, but this is lip service. I posted our comments in July 2023 and NOTHING HAS CHANGED. It is not a 4 star hotel by any stretch of the imagination. It needs a full refurbishment and a total upgrade in terms of the food and entertainment offer. Our holiday was not a cheap package by TUI… so our advice would be to book elsewhere… our room had damp /water ingress issues and noise from the main road… catering very poor- worse than any 4 star in our experience.

Location beautiful location right on the beachfront. Lift from hotel brings you directly on to the prom. 5 minute walk to the beautiful marina. Bus stop right outside the hotel on both sides of road going everywhere. Be aware you either need a bus card available from tobacconists or cash. Also all the main cash machines charge you 7 or 8 euros, to take cash out. Pool area and sunbathing We chose little gardens on the front of the hotel, where there are only 2 or three sun beds, so feels like your own piece of paradise. There is also an outside hot tub where you can relax and look over the sea. Plenty of beds round the pool, however the pool is freezing. Why do they not have heated pools in Spain? There is also a rooftop garden which has amazing views, however in the winter months is shaded in the afternoon. Rooms fresh and clean, in need of an update which I believe is commencing November 2023. Beds were massive albeit quite firm were very comfortable. Large powerful shower, although my preference would be to have a bath also. Good aircon. We had room 409 which faced west, it had great views of the sea and down the beach and sun all afternoon. The rooms on the other side of the hotel have views facing the pool, sea and down to the marina. Either way fantastic views from most of the rooms. Free safe and fridge, and fruit and a bottle of wine and water in room on arrival. Nice touch. Only thing was it was a rose and I don’t like rose, when I asked housekeeping if it could be changed for a white or red, I was informed no. Shame as it was then just wasted. My only issue was people smoking on the balcony below for the first week which meant than when we sat on our balcony it just blew up on ours and through our doors, which we then had to close. Staff the staff at this hotel were lovely. Both the restaurant staff and the TUI reps were friendly and helpful. The restaurant staff from the maitre de, the chef and Anna a caminera, also helped me with my Spanish everything was great for us. Food overall pretty good for a small hotel. Hot and regularly changed and restocked. The gala evening the food was amazing if you like seafood. The salads were great and the show cooking always had something good on the menu. Breakfast were great, something for all. Freshly made to order, pancakes, omelettes, and fried eggs. English sausages, bacon mushrooms , scrambled egg. Fresh orange juice and sparkling wine, personally I loved that they had hash browns every morning. Fresh bread and like that they had a proper grill so you toast your bread to exactly how you like it. We were also entitled to one dinner in the al a crate restaurant, which I figured was a but mean, as if you are staying 2 weeks or more you still only get the one visit. However, after having our dinner there we preferred the buffet style restaurant. Wine for a 4 star hotel the wine was adequately priced, the house wines appeared to be very popular which, so it can’t have been too bad and started at about 11 euros a bottle. My preference was the Syrah. Entertainment Not really my cup of tea, we sat just outside on a table so we could listen and enjoy the outside views, but then the doors were closed by apologetic staff as someone inside in a T shirt sitting by the door complained they were cold! So we didn’t go back. I suppose you can’t please everyone. Overall a lovely hotel with excellent staff

Stayed for a long weekend great location and the breakfast was good lack of storage in the room .Sunbeds were non adjustable so not the comfiest.its a 3 star and that's about right could be doing with a bit of upgrading enjoyed my stay

El hotel muy bien me gusta que tenga una sala para poder jugar al parchís, o domino sin molestar a la gente de cafetería, las abitaciones también me gustan porque tienen sitio para poder poner las cosas la gente genial para volver los camareros muy atentos y amables.

La comida era muy mala. No sé por qué sin sabor. El método de coccion de las patatas era muy malo. Me senté allí durante tres noches y nunca olvidaré las patatas en mal estado.
