There is no need to go to the eastern coast of Mauritius if you are not going to visit this this place. The restaurant. The art gallery. The Place. Must see
A good restaurant. I loved it and would love to go once again.
It is an amazing place! Owner and his wife are fantastic people! The Chef deserves one or two stars (Micheline: at least:
We were recommended Cafe des Artes by our family members who had come a couple of years earlier and who had a really memorable evening. Despite the best efforts of our hotel who told us it was closed, I have heard this about a few places, trying to keep guests inside the hotels and spending money there, we made our way to Cafes Des Arte, and were greeted by an amazing old Sugar Mill, and some very friendly dogs and the lovely owners Patricia and Jocelyn. We made our way into the remarkable building, which was filled with art from the Jocelyn's mother, which is all incredibly beautiful in a spectacular setting. We were waiting on hand and foot by Jocelyn and Patricia and regaled with many fascinating and very funny stories., they were a really lovely welcoming couple. The food was spectacular, amazing lobster with an amazing basil sauce, the most fresh snapper, cooked to perfection, tuna, and liver for starters, and a spectacular crepe suzette, which Jocelyn dramatically lit up. The food was of the highest standard, we think the best we had in Mauritius, where all food is amazing. There was a concise but excellent wine list and good value, and we a delicious Pouilly Fuisse. A wonderful evening, and we would highly recommend a visit, we cant wait to return.
