Bidra med feedbackI’ve been coming here once or twice a year and this place never lets me down. The food is excellent as is the price ! The boss is great and everything is done with a smile…… Just an enjoyable place to be!
A great place with people who love to prepare and serve great foot! A simple nice caffee/bar/resto in the heart of Beaufort-sur-Gervanne. We spend a few lunch breaks there. Organic food with very interesting combinations and great desserts! The only little disappointment was the oneway plates and cups but I think this is due to the ongoing Covit-measures they have to meet. Even the table vine tasted great in the paper cup it was served! On our third visit we got self-made cookies with our coffee. The owner (I guess she was the owner because she said she backed the cookies) was very funny and emphatically and was willing and able to communicate with us in English because we where to stupid to order in French (which is not that often in this part of France)! We definitely will return to this little pearl of the Gervanne-Area!
I would love to review the food, but when our group of 4 arrived at the time planned (having a reservation made by a native French speaker), we were told we hadn't reserved. They showed us the book, and the name was there but crossed out. The place was virtually full. A group of 5 (regulars) arrived at the same time we did, and were seated immediately with an effusive welcome. We were grudgingly given the option of one tiny table for 4, which barely had room for two plates on it. They continued to insist we had never reserved despite seeing our name crossed out. Unwilling to cause a scene, we left. This is not the way to get loyal clients (we all live locally), particularly since the reviews are so glowing. Very disappointing indeed. Mistakes can happen, but such a negative attitude makes us unwilling to try again.
We had an excellent lunch here midway through a lengthy cycle ride. We both went for the intriguing Portuguese style cod salad which was superb (we later found out that the chef is originally from Portugal) and a change from the ubiquitous ham and cheese based dishes found in much of this part of France. They also clearly take their beef seriously here too, and everything we saw looked first class. At midday on a Thursday there were already several tables booked, and by the time we left there were people waiting for tables a good sign for a small restaurant in a quiet village. Back to the food: the salad was based on salted cod with beans, pine nuts, tomatoes and melon the dressing and combination of flavours were perfect. Everything is homemade and for pudding I chose the Soupe de la peche which is best thought of as stewed peaches again superb. Service was friendly and efficient throughout. I think this is a new business and the couple running it deserve every success. Bon Chance!
We had our dinner on the peaceful terrace with our entire family. Some of us are vegetarian and they had there choice too. The owners are very friendly and the dishes they serve were surprisingly delicious.
