Phoenix Chinese - Beal an mhuirthead

Arrived I to town at 21.00 after driving 4 hours from Dublin. Hotel food kitchen stops at 20.45, as do most restaurants in town The phoenix stays serving late. You will not be disappointed, excellent food with cheerful friendly staff. It was festival night so fully booked but we were asked to wait as a table had just paid and we didn't have to wait 10 minutes. Crab sweet corn soup. Lovely. 1/2 peking duck with pancakes. Excellent Crispy shredded beef sweet sour HK style sauce, with fried rice. Very tasty. Chicken chow mein , very good. Great service tasty food, most enjoyable. Try it, you won't be disappointed.

I visited this place twice, the food is served quickly as its usually empty inside (mostly take away). The chicken corn soup is tasty but the main dishes are rather bland. Definitely dont recommend the Kung Bao beef as it seemed more like a sweet and sour sauce just warmed up and had nasty vinegar taste and smell to it. The other dishes were sort of okay but it's mostly just soy sauce taste. The service is nice. Prices are high maybe more affordable when take out.

I paid 21.90 for the smallest portion of food I have ever got. We were served by a woman and she was nothing but arrogant shouting at us at one point when bringing the food. She was not helpful at all the atmosphere was quiet noisy hearing the kitchen even with the doors closed. Food was absolutely terrible I'm disgusted at the price I paid for such poor quality and small portions. I would not recommend this chinese to anyone. If you are getting it get a take away the portion might be bigger!

Drove to this restaurant while staying near town. Just a bad experience. Food is way overpriced for what you get. The staff was curt and impatient. The food came quickly, but it was clear that it was not cooked for us. Both meals were barely edible, but we ate them anyway because no other restaurants are open and we were starving. The rice was old and dried out. Had to drown the food in soy sauce to finish the meal. Would not recommend.
