Café Americain - Baton Rouge

I've been several times, food is consistent and good. Service was fast and friendly. Decor was a little dated, but this does not take away from meal or experience. It's worth a stop when you're in the area.

As much as I love cafe american, was I very disappointed? in them tonight my usual Alfredo Pasta ordered with extra sauce? got my movie ready and waited for my food to arrive, especially it was a half the cup, it was dry and looked overcooked, the container was dirty and I was broken? but on a good note, the lemon icebox cake was absolutely delicious? as always, thanks and have a great Halloween weekend? See you on Sunday? Thank you for your feedback and your concern, I love you and will continue to support Cafe American? it was one of my favorite restaurants for over 30 years. I gave 4 stars to the waiting staff. The waiters are always attentive, friendly and provide fast service. Our last visit to 7/23/22 was less ideal, but not because of the quality and taste of food or waitress. It was because of an incident between an older gray haired plump man (except the manager or owner) and some of the waiters. He came in and had a quick impromptu meeting at the bar that we could hear everything. He chased the waitress on phones, stations, etc. We feel very inappropriate and disastrous for employees to do something where customers could hear everything. This makes us think twice about eating there if management is not good for the employees. Happy employees translate to a good service. We love the food, the atmosphere and the waiting staff. They always share a friendly smile and kind words. So I read the answer from Cafe American and the part you missed is how it was treated... before customers. I have been in management for over 25 years and there are definitely better ways to deal with a problem you have with an employee than to call them before customers and embarrass them.

I understand inflation, but seriously charging a slice of American cheese for the Cafe Burger $1.75 is a laughing JOKE. Do you want a baked potato? Don't ask for bacon bits, that's it? Also $1.75. I like the support of local restaurants, but this is CHEAP. The owner enjoys his million dollar property. I'm sorry you lost my business for $1.75. I will not support the rich price measurement.

Baton Rouge roast beef po-boys are a hit or miss, but Café Americain nails it. Their gumbo is great as well.
