Came here several times with my family and it is by far the best restaurant in the fatima area, served very traditional food and very tasty. I recommend everyone here. the service is really beautiful and the decoration is very rustic and old...a good way. I love it! every time we have a family meeting, we go there.
We asked several different meal times - the famous baskenau, grilled otopus and some meats. everything was delicious, the kind of preparation homemade. the otopus was probably one of the best I've ever tried. although a bit expensive, this restaurant is a good option for those. who come to fatima and want to enjoy quiet and authentic environment away from the tourist trubel away.
Had a really great meal here a few days ago. Visited with my wife, three kids and my parents on a Wednesday evening. Shared the restaurant with just a few other diners. My parents have been here a few times and it...is usually quiet midweek but gets busier at the weekends. Not as extensive a menu (less fish dishes) as I've seen in some other local restaurants but what is served is excellent. The starters which are served to the table were really good quality... particularly the plate of Presunto (cured ham). For mains it was steak all round on our table other than order of Octopus (polvo) which was charred (i think) and added to a casserole dish of crushed whole potatoes with onions and peppers in delicious juicy sauce. All mains were accompanied by rice chips the local migas dish (turnip leaves, beans, bread crumbs, garlic olive oil) which is really tasty. Steak dishes were very well cooked, tender and tasty. The dining room is very traditionally decorated and welcoming. Not a lot of English spoken here but if you already know your way round a traditional Portuguese menu you'll be fine. Service is nice and attentive and more personal than in some of the other local restaurants ... we'd been the the rated Tasquihna restaurant in town a few nights previous and this restaurant knock the socks off that one for quality of food and service and style etc .. Main courses come in half or full portions. The full portions are sufficient for two. Between diners we shared full main courses and left full. The house wine Real Bathala is very good and reasonably priced per bottle around € Its a mile or two out of town but worth the drive for top quality food, service and in a very relaxing environment.
They have a very well looking codfish but then when you taste it, doesn't even taste like codfish. It was quite a deception. And the waiter was way more interested in watching the football game going on in the TV than to do his job....It was a peaty because when I got in I had great expectation...
