Bidra med feedbackAnyone travelling to this area its a must for foodies. We regularly visit high quality Indian Restaurants in the rest of Ireland and the UK an this little gem is up there with the best. Its very unassuming and you could pass it easily without noticing it and we nearly did. Last weekend our guest house owner recommended it on the basis of other clients opinions without having visited herself and we took a chance. What a surprise that in so remote an area we could fine such high quality authentic indian food. All the food was freshly made and served with a smile. Wine was reasonably priced at €17.50 a bottle if you wanted it but we went for the traditional Singha beer. Food was spicy and tasty without being over powering and the host was very interested in us as guests e.g. asking us where we were from etc. If you do go the chilli chicken tikka masala is excellent as was the garlic naan bread. If your in the area definitely give Shalimar your custom as its excellent and should be supported. Another examples of its greatness was the price of €34 for our meal and the fact that the takeaway was busy all night.
On a lovely day this area is simply stunning in natural beauty. Miles of fabulous pristine sandy beaches and rugged mountain landscapes. An Irish language area it offers a multitude of good local pubs and restaurants in traditional uncrowded Irish surroundings.
My soul mate and I spend as much time as we can here it's pure quality we love it great for walks lovely natural sights to see always lots to do and see were looking forward to our nxt break there we fell in love with here about 8 yrs ago
Never did I think I would see such beautiful scenery in Ireland. We were doing the wild Atlantic way and each turn offered a more spectacular view of coastline. It helped it was a beautiful day. Bunbeg beach stretched for miles we just had to get out and go for a walk. There was a handful of people on the beach .... in August ... on a sunny day in Ireland which is unusual. A hidden gem. All you can feel is at peace here it's quiet it's beautiful it's relaxing. I understand now why people from Donegal are landscape snobs cause you don't get better than this. As you drive out of bunbeg the views are amazing too.
Bunbeg to gweedore is one long road of delightful bungalows and some huge homes plenty of eateries from Chinese to pizzas then there are some very good restaurants too. I think its fair to say that this stretch of road is Planning gone mad.I would say mostly holiday homes but then again I am not as familiar with Bunbeg as I would be further up the coast. The Wild Atlantic Way is a pretty accurate description of the route
