We visited as a family group to celebrate Mother’s Day. The main door in the reception area was being used as a storage area for renovation supplies and entrance was through a side door which was not an enticing welcome to the hotel. On a site of this size I would have expected a less obvious location to be used for building supply storage. Arriving at the restaurant we had to wait for more than 5 minutes before being seated, even though our table was ready. Overall the service was really not great and did not feel in any way professional. The waitress arrived to take a drinks order despite the fact we hadn’t even been offered a wine list. The drinks arrived and the waiter asked abruptly asked ‘right who’s having what? Despite requesting water for the table twice it didn’t arrive until we asked a third time. Food was ok but from the children’s menu the individual 11” pizza and chips arrived instead as 3 slices of pizza. We ordered tea and coffee and the tea was freezing, with the coffee lukewarm. The waitress bringing the coffee asked us ‘Is this for here?’ when she arrived with some of the coffees. When we asked what it was, she replied that she didn’t know. It was honestly like Fawlty Towers. As we were a party of 9 a service charge was automatically added but really not deserved. As the hospitality industry is extremely important in this country I feel it is necessary to provide honest customer feedback to highlight glaring issues and to allow the venue to improve both their staff and service.
Once we got to the restaurant, we had to wait over five minutes for a table, even though it was ready. Overall, the service left much to be desired and felt unprofessional. The waitress came to take our drink orders without even offering a wine list. When our drinks arrived, she abruptly asked, “Who’s is what?” Despite asking twice for water for the table, it only arrived after we asked a third time. The food was passable, but instead of the three slices of pizza we ordered from the children's menu, a single 11-inch pizza with chips was served. We also ordered tea and coffee; the tea had an off taste, and the coffee was lukewarm. When the waitress brought out the coffee, she asked, “Is this here?” and when we inquired about one of the beverages, she admitted she didn't know what it was. It felt like a scene from Fawlty Towers. Since we were a party of nine, a service fee was automatically added, but it certainly wasn’t warranted. Given the importance of the gas industry in this country, I believe it’s crucial to provide honest customer feedback to highlight significant issues and help improve both the staff and service at this venue.
The food was outstanding for most of our group, who are meat eaters. However, one of our party, who is vegan, was disappointed with her meal. Although nothing was wrong with the food itself, she had to settle for a burger because the nut cutlet was unavailable. Unfortunately, the burger had to be served on a gluten-free bun since none of the other options were suitable. Overall, 4 out of 5 of us were very satisfied, but the vegan menu definitely needs some improvement.
I went there with my family, and we all had a great time. The service was a bit slow, though.
