Bidra med feedbackCame here for a business dinner with pre-chosen menu. The ambiance is old style as is the service. What surprised me, was how little wine they were pouring into the large wine glasses, sometimes just 1-2 little sips, this the glass was empty as soon...as you raised it once. That way they we managed with 2 bottles for the whole evening when many of us could have easily enjoyed twice the amount. The wine list is okay definitely when it comes to whites. For reds the options are either quite expensive Bordeaux or Burgundies also from older vintages or a quite small selection of high level Italians and really not do interesting French or German alternatives at lower prices. As for the food it was quite good, but nothing really special, even though they tried to mss as je it look special. Portions, however, were quite generous for an upscale restaurant. Would I come back, maybe yes for the cosy feeling, but not with my kids as they would feel out of place. As I haven’t seen their full menu, I can’t judge their vegetarian options, which would be important for my wife. All in all good but not great.
Super ambience, elegant and understated check. Excellent service, personal and friendly check. Food was not bad at all, however, not in the quality and „perfection“ you would expect it for the price. It was somehow as if they were trying to lift the...„traditional German taste“ with some extra quirks of cuisine...but it was neither the one nor the other. So overall very good but not impressing...
We had a wonderful evening at Sängers. Does not happen often that lamb melts in your mouth. Menu is really well chosen and varied I think they change it each season. You need to come with deep pockets but absolutely worth every cent.
Mr. Saenger goes years back – and I first visited his restaurant “The weisse Turm” in Friedrichsdorf during the 80ties.All these years his menus did match high expectations and they still do.This time we enjoyed a business lunch: soup or salad (great with a delicious vinaigrette), Halibut or Roulade from US-beef (being served not so often in *-restaurants and then with this homemade touch which remembers you at your mothers cooking), cheese or dessert (iced quince and crumbles and …).The menu was served in “no time” (in fact a little bit too fast for us – we had quite some stuff to discuss), in high quality and absolutely enjoyable, for a very reasonable price (36 €) and with matching wines by the glass (white burgundy from Johner / Baden, red cuvee by Knipser / Pfalz). If you are close by, want to enjoy Bad Homburg and its parks / city – this is the place for lunch or dinner.
