Jeg'ourmet - Auxerre

Came here on recommendation of land lady at the hotel I was staying in as it was pouring with rain and I didn’t want to walk down into town where I normally eat. It was really a pleasant ‘easy feel’ locals place. I ordered what I interpreted to be their ‘special salad’. It consists of 3 whole kidneys, lardons, excellent goose liver pate, pine nuts and a bit of lettuce, wonderful! For main I had duck with turnip, swede, parsnip, red cabbage, cauliflower and broccoli but no potatoes or carrots (different and a great rich wine sauce. Lovely bottle of wine with a traditional small glass (keeps me busy! This place isn’t trying to be old fashioned, it just never modernised! Be aware that as a traditional restaurant one of its house specials is cheval (horse meat not everyone’s cup of tea. A great place to come if you want to be adventurous, but not condescending.
