Archie's Pizzeria - Auckland

They have made delicious vegan pizza for a while but have now added the option for vegan cheese. Great staff. Often busy, you have to book a table.

I went to Archies after hearing they had vegan options. I ordered the vegan pizza, which was essentially just a pizza base with tomato sauce, 2 slices of tomatoes, and a few olives. On my next visit, I tried the vegan pasta hoping for a better experience. Despite requesting no Parmesan, it was still included in my dish. When I asked for it to be replaced, I received a rude response but the dish was quickly brought back with extra sauce to cover up the cheese.

The owner/manager, who claimed to be vegan, was extremely helpful. She personally recommended a pizza with more vegetables for the same price as the one I originally ordered. The pizza was delicious and a great option to share with my friends who eat meat. The waitress also mentioned that they could accommodate special requests if I wanted something other than pizza.

We kicked off our New Zealand vacation in the Newmarket neighborhood of Auckland, located near the Auckland War Museum. Following our visit to the museum, which closed at 5 pm, we returned to Newmarket only to discover that the fully vegan restaurants had already closed by 6 pm! Thankfully, we stumbled upon Archie's Pizzeria, although they predominantly served non-vegan fare, they graciously accommodated our request for vegan dishes from the menu. We savored a scrumptious wood-fired vegan pizza and a delightful salad bursting with a selection of fresh vegetables. The presentation was exquisite and the dishes were prepared to perfection. If I find myself back in the Newmarket area of Auckland for dinner, I would without a doubt revisit Archie's.
