Walsh's - Athlone

Walsh's Bakery had a great variety of baked goods to choose from. I had a snickers dessert, which was delicious. My husband bought a good sized apple tart for himself. We would definitely recommend Walsh's for a snack. The prices are very reasonable also.

We visited a charming little cafe where we enjoyed delicious vegetable soup. The cafe is located at the back of a bakery display in the front of the building. They have a variety of tasty cakes for sale as well. There is ample street parking available in the town, which has a one-way system in place.

This is a lovely spot to bring the family for some delicious baked treats. We enjoyed cake and gingerbread men.

During our 18-day holiday in Ireland, we decided to make a stop in Clifden and stumbled upon this charming bakery and cafe. We originally planned on just grabbing a pastry and coffee for a light lunch, but were pleasantly surprised to find that they also served sit-down lunches. We ended up ordering soup and sandwiches, which were absolutely delicious. The staff was friendly and we had a lovely break while exploring the village shops. Definitely a great place to visit – give it a try!

After sadly walking around town for a while as basically every other shop seemed to be closed, we found this gem of a cafe, and thankfully they were happy to let our dog inside. Every single cake behind the counter looked tempting, but though it was our original plan to take one to go, we were just too full after the toasties and chips. Sadly no milkshakes available, but there’s enough on the menu for everyone.
