The Old Fort - Athlone

Inimitable Anglo-Irish style in a fort designed to resist a hypothetical French invasion of Ireland. Las, it never happened and the Irish people were still suffering for a century before gaining independence. There is still a massive and martial place but hot inside. The kitchen is roborative and pleasant and the service is good aloi. A good step between Dublin and the Connemara.

I went out for dinner last night and can't praise it enough. The food was delicious, the restaurant was lovely, and the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. I will definitely be coming back.

I am amazed by how incredible this restaurant is. We stumbled upon it by accident while driving through the Irish countryside between Leap Castle and Galway. Our group of 5 absolutely fell in love with the atmosphere, the food, and the extremely friendly staff. I ordered the lamb and it was so tender it fell off the bone. We all indulged in the chocolate dessert and absolutely adored it. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. It was definitely the best meal we had during our vacation.
