Good place for a peregrino on the camino to get a filling and affordable breakfast. Got some freshly squeezed orange juice, bread, and delicious bacon and eggs. Service was good despite the huge number of peregrinos.
I approached Murias in fear and with trepidation. A number of years ago, while walking the Camino, I happened to stop at a small bar called El Liar Llar (or something similar) and encountered a lady (P r)who had a bar stocked with amazing food but who was totally being abusive to pilgrims and took a huge dislike to my wife and I for some reason. She clearly had a lot of inner issues. However, this time, upon arriving, the first thing I noticed was a different name and then going inside (with really scary memories flooding back), it was apparent that the staff were totally different and the challenged lady was no more there. Lovely lovely food again, but this time also lovely staff who were working really hard to serve pilgrims. Fears vanished and now I know I can walk the Camino, passing through Murias while stopping for food and drink, in peace and harmony.
During my Camino de Santiago many beautiful things happened but my experience at Bar Cris was one of the highlights of my adventure. After leaving Astorga I stopped here for a nice breakfast and I noticed that I completely forgot to take money with me on the way. I asked Rosi, the bar owner, where I could find the closest bank on the way and it turns out that it was at Ponferrada, 2 days of walking away. Since I basically had to survive for 2 days with only 5€, Rosi offered me to give me a ride back to Astorga so that I could take the money and then she drove me back to the bar. It was one of the most genuine and generous acts I have ever experienced, thanks Rosi, and wish you the best!
