Bidra med feedbackWow! the atmosphere is great! you feel like you're in a family member as soon as you enter the squeaking door. or if they choose, the outside seats also look great! I have never been to Germany, but one of the people I had lived with for 4 years there and it was all he hoped and dreamed it would be. menu points were before location great beer. service was excellent. if they are looking for German food they would expect in Germany, then this is the place to go without traveling all the way to Germany. we are back to the definitiw. Unfortunately we did not know that it has been there for 14 years! it has to try and its only 9 minutes from the inner city of asheville!
This is a little gem in North Asheville, South Weaverville. We are staying at the Pines Cottages and this place is right at the bottom of the hill. We popped in on a Monday evening (they were only open 5p-9p and no one else was dining so I thought things might be super sketchy but also realized we aren't here on peak season or day. The server/bartender (can't remember his name... so sorry! came from the back and had us promptly greeted and seated. Took our drink order quickly which consisted of a half pint of Weihanstephan Hefeweizen and Das Boot of Spaeten Optimator! On tap, wow! Decor was so traditionally German and brought me back to my High School years in German class as these taverns were described. Hot dough rolls complimentary served before our two brats, sauerkraut, red cabbage and apple slice were fantastic. Two other couples popped in while we were eating, too, and the bartender was so welcoming and attentive to everyone. I wish I could take this place back with us when we go home!
Authentic German food and beer. The staff is super nice and friendly. The food portions are big (at least what I had for dinner). Pork schnitzel was great as was the spatzle and red cabbage. Check it out at lunch if you are on a budget, prices almost double for dinner.
Saurgraten wasnt to my liking. Vienna salad was yummy. I also got a apple strudel. It was pretty good. Service was great! Very friendly and helpful. Next time i go for Getman food though ill try another place. If i can find one.
This restaurant is an authentic slice of German food life right in Weaverville. My only hang up is the price this is definitely a higher end restaurant with dishes ranging the $15 25 range and appetizers and desserts coming just shy of $10. Still the food was absolutely delicious and it was brimming with quality. The setting is a cabin to dine in with outdoor seating available. The wait staff is absolutely friendly as can be. Attentive and took time to explain everything on the menu. The beers are German based naturally, and come in dwarven proportions. I had a hot toddy that I actually quite enjoyed, a generous mug of honeyed tea with a sweet spiked finish. I had a meat dish that marinates for several days with potato salad and my partner had the classic schnitzel dish with a raum twist. Both meals were yummy as can be. The Vienna salad was probably my favorite little bit, a delightful tomato chopped mix. We added on a brat and everything including the brats are made in house. The meats were hearty, flavorful, and not a single component was dry. The sides balanced the heavy flavors of the meat well. The apple streudel for dessert was a fantastic choice. Light and sweet only from the apples themselves, it was a dessert you could squeeze into a filling dinner. If you're looking for either a high quality dish with a casual cozy environment or a romantic place to try some authentic German cuisine you'll find this versatile cabin offers both. Edit: the restaurant has brought politics into their atmosphere via a giant cardboard cut out of the president. Whatever your political views it isn't something I want shoved in my face while trying to enjoy a meal. Between this new information and their prices I've changed my rating and recommend several other, much better restaurants in the area: Black Mountain and Hendersonville both have top notch German restaurants.
