Bidra med feedbackHad a family meal here while staying at Hunters Quay Holiday Park. The food was great and the staff were friendly and attentive. One of the most enjoyable meals out in a while thanks to great staff and the chef/ lovely food I don't know where the cherry tomatoes served with the steak were from but they were the sweetest and tastiest tomatoes I have ever tried.
As guests at the Holiday Village we thought we would try out the on-site restaurant. We were made to feel welcome on arrival and shown to our pre-booked table (which is a must). The food tasted lovely and arrived promptly after ordering. Only issue was an incorrect steak, I asked for blue it was just rare but I know this can vary from chef to chef. Plus the amount of oil/water on the plate made the chips swim before eating, I should have left them in the pot (see pic). Sadly after our main meal arrived the service sadly went “down hill”. We waited over 25mins after finishing before anyone came to take our used plates and ask if we wanted puddings. Even though we were seated to the left of the servers desk. We ordered our puddings and these arrived fine and also ordered a drink, the drink did not arrive as the server passed this to another server and gave him the wrong table number, so instead of him asking the other server again he just left it. When I asked if I could have a coffee I was told ‘NO’ as they were cleaning the coffee machine, this was 45mins before they closed. Not sure why you would do this when you still have customers in the restaurant. Sadly not the best restaurant for customer service, however the food was acceptable.
We ate here twice on our Easter weekend break. Once for breakfast and once for dinner on Good Friday. On the breakfast morning we waited a long time for 2 x beans on toast, a small Scottish breakfast, 2 x breakfast rolls. The restaurant was not busy so it appeared that the delay was down to kitchen inefficiencies. The beans were at best stingy. One small pot that didn’t cover one slice of the two pieces of given. As owners we received a 10% discount but the bill still came to £33 with one drink each being consumed. When we went in the evening, the restaurant was a little busier but not at full capacity and again we waited just over 35 minutes for our food (we only ordered main courses). No-one came at any point to explain any delay. I was just about to enquire when the food arrived. When looking at the menu I noticed that the prices have soared from what they used to be. £14.95 for Steak pie, you have to pay £5.00 extra for prawns in the curry and you only receive four prawns, which seems a bit steep. The portion size was fine except on the curry for what was paid. My eldest daughter’s meal did not arrive with our food, so we waited a further five minutes still nothing so my husband went to enquire and the waiter apologised and said it would be along shortly. It arrived just over five minutes later. So by the time she had received her food ten minutes after our food was served we were nearly finished. We did not order puddings due to the delay and although we had one soft drink each (5 drinks in total) the bill came to just over £80 pounds. To be honest for an eatery at a caravan park this seems very high and much more expensive than it used to be. I’m not surprised that it was so quiet as by venturing the short distance into Dunoon you will get a cheaper meal of similar quality.
We come to hunters bar and grill regular as we are caravan owners for over 15yr so is the regular place for meals with the kids and family.recently though the prices have rocketed, and portions have shrunk big time(tempura chicken starter)3 small pieces of shredded chicken was pathetic.we were shocked at the size of this and were trying not to laugh
Very good food and service highly recommend good prices and great views, friendly staff nice choice and location
