Bidra med feedbackTuscan trattoria very old-fashioned, just five minutes from the center of Arezzo in direction of the Casentino, the many large trucks parked in the forecourt say a lot on the extraordinary value for money. When entering it will be like entering a private Tuscan countryhouse… the scent of freshly washed tablecloths mixes the intense smell of roast meats...sure no luxe, simply simple… The way the sisters-owners cook is exactly the same as our grandmothers inTuscany, with the most traditional recipes of Arezzo. It’s better to have (only if really hungry…and capable to eat truck-driver's quantities... the full menu… classic Tuscan appetizer is black (chicken liver based crostini, ham and salami…then pasta, fresh egg pasta “maccheroni” with a lot of dark meat ragout (very tasty… … Main course, and a real MUST when in Arezzo, the “Nana in Porchetta” a duck oven baked with wild fennel and garlic, served with roasted potatoes (for the price of Euro 7,50…and it could be enough to act as a whole meal… . At the end handmade oranges tart with vin santo (the Tuscan families raisin wine… . So, perfect if you want to eat in the place and the way local people do…and so low cost!!!
Traveling between Arezzo and the Casentino valley at lunchtime, we came across this restaurant. We have been favorably impressed by the number of parked cars, most of them work vehicles (this, at least in Italy, is always a good sign). Sitting at an outdoor table, we ordered a first dish and two main courses: arrabbiata style (that is, quite spicy) pasta, stewed tripes with a beans side dish, and a beef steak (not a large Florentine steak, but a regular size one). Everything was tasty, but the steak was excellent: very soft and exquisite. Also, incredible, it cost just 8 euros: a price absolutely out of the ordinary in Tuscany. The bill was overall € 31 for two people (including a quarter of homemade wine, water and two coffees): so also it was out of the ordinary. After all, the workers who stop here for lunch are right!
No menus but the food is always great and fresh. Meat is whatever is in season or perhaps caught that day ! Pasta is always made fresh and once it runs out it's gone. Friendly staff with very little English but that also makes it a must visit. Italian country food at its best
Mi sono sentito come se fossi a pranzo dalla nonna in un posto molto pulito e ben tenuto, con una veranda calda e accogliente e una cucina genuina e ben fatta. Mi hai fatto sentire a casa, grazie.
