Antica Osteria Dalla Croce - ARCUGNANO

After a disastrous brief visit to Trattoria Zamboni we were stuck in Arcugnano late in the evening and literally this was the first place we came across. Very simple but honest food: guinea fowl, bigoli with truffle etc. Beautiful views and the service warmed up as the evening went on. We were just relieved to be out of Trattoria Zamboni!

On the hilltop above Lago di Fimon, Lapio boasts some of the most incredible views of the fimon valley. Antica Osteria takes advantage of this ideal position with a summertime terrace for outdoor dining with views over the lake, hills, and mountains beyond. For such an amazing position, the food is also unparaleled, offering a robust menu of local homestyle favorites such as bigoli anatra, risotto alla tartufo, coniglio vedure, just to name a few. Delivered in a mom and pop atmosphere and abundant earthy sfuso red wine, you find yourself happy just being there. Flavors of the Coli Berici and the good stuff you don 't know you 've been missing make this everything you 've been looking for in a true authentic local restaurant.

I'm making a premise, we're talking about a family-run tavern. do not think of going to a starry restaurant and having too many demands. we are talking about a restaurant where the “grandmother” is cooked, where the environment knows about the house and the lunches seem to be family. the location: Strategically positioned above the lofty lake immersed in the berries, in summer you can eat in the terrace overlooking the lake (personally the best terrace, at the level of view, of all the hills); the interior looks like a tavern of once, wooden tables, pellet stove, ceramic cutlery. staff: it is family run, beeps the key character, a bit rough but from the heart of gold and very wise, the rest of the staff is formed by children and grandchildren who are (lucky) learning the job. in the complex very friendly but a little slow (to have patience). food: do not expect a stellar cuisine, even if personally, the dishes offered are the best of the beriche hills. we are talking about a classic, unfinished kitchen, truffle, porcini or what you might find in your kitchen at a family dinner! the second rich dishes, grilled or rabbit or guinea fowl, do not hang on top (repeto is a tavern) but from the goto sopraffino! sweets: wide variety of homemade desserts, taste the tiramisue! bees specialties? grappas of any type and goto! price well below the average of any restaurant on the hill! I highly recommend it to those who do not smell under the nose, who seeks a quiet lunch and to whom, like me, how to eat from the grandmother!
