Bidra med feedbackWe stayed at Riviera Hermitage and this was the only restaurant that delivered to us. However, after trying their Goan curry and rice with mackerel and king fish, we decided to walk to nearby restaurants instead. The curry in both dishes tasted the same and the fish seemed to be added at the last minute, resulting in a tasteless meal. The mackerel was tough and seemed old, while the king fish had slightly more flavor but was still lacking. We recommend trying other nearby restaurants instead of Sweet Tomato.
We had lunch at Sweet Tomato during our stay at the Doubletree Arpora. It is walking distance by the taxi stand and on the second floor...open air seating. They show you the fish you want before cooking it and are very nice to talk to . Good food and relaxing seating . We ordered a pomfret meal and a sizzler platter (can't go wrong with sizzlers in Goa) both were hot and satisfying brought out fresh and quickly. I would eat here again.
We were staying at an apartment in the Riviera Hermitage and ate at the Sweet Tomato almost every day of our two week stay, sometimes twice a day! It is somewhat set back from the main road near the entrance of the Doubletree Hotel, and although the decor is simple and unpretentious the quality of food and service cannot be faulted. Can't recommend it highly enough as I can't think of one dish I didn't enjoy - especially wonderful is the xacuti Goan curry (if you like hot and spicy), their omelettes and sizzlers are fantastic too! All food is freshly prepared so can be modified to your taste. The staff are very friendly and bend over backwards to please. You will want to visit more than once.
The staff at this restaurant is fantastic and very helpful. We used this place to meet up with our friends before going out for the evening because the bar at our hotel was overpriced, but the drinks here were much more reasonably priced.
As this restaurant is close to the hotel and we had to pass it no matter where went, we ended up having a couple of swift ones on our way out most nights. We also ate lunch here on a couple of occasions, the food was well cooked but very basic. We decided to have a proper meal one night and asked the waiter to recommend a starter, he brought out some spicy potato cakes which were very nice. For a main I had chicken xacuti, not bad but not as nice as ones I have had in Goa, my wife had a korma and a side of mixed veg curry with bread. All good but the surroundings and food lack that little something extra, the service however I couldn't fault and made up for any shortfalls. The cost was dirt cheap and less than £20 for all the food, 3 lge kingfishers and 2 sml Tuborg, plus no taxi's.
