Bidra med feedbackWe went to try the special menu for the 2018 Gastronomic Festival of Terceira and we really liked it. Starter and main course were really good, but we specially liked the deseart, which was a mix of regional sweets. The staff was nice and friendly. It's a nice place to go and have a nice dinner.
Cozinha do Carocol offers a buffet several times each week. It contains a main fish and meat dish, shrimp, a soup, a half dozen salads, cheese (local), drinks, five or six desserts, rice, vegetables, bread, juice, and more...all for under 20€. The calamari stew was excellent. Both the stew and the main pork dish used Azorean recipes. The service was exceptional.
Avoid at all cost. My experience within this restaurant was very bad. We have to wait 45min for the couvert , and after that 30min more for the main dish. And on top of this they mixed up orders, and gave me a dish different from the one I´ve ordered , when questioned staff answered I was in doubt , and thought was this one you´ve ordered , I can make a new one but it will take 60min so I decided to stick with the one they gave me (one of the most expensive item on the menu) . And the end they did not charged me for the dish ordered but from the one of the mistake. No costumer service at all. The food quality is acceptable, but for the price you pay I was expecting something better than acceptable. If your staying at the hotel resist the temptation of having your meal here. Walk 10min to city center and you will be much better.
We stayed at the hotel do Caracol and ate at both the bar and restaurant. We were too tired after hiking biking all day to go out to eat. Food was good, excellent service we preferred the bar to the restaurant as it was a more relaxing atmosphere. Prices were reasonable for both food and drinks we had lunch a couple of time too, as well as dinner.
The invitation left as a flyer in room with a 10% discount voucher read the following... On Fridays, our chef prepares a delicious dinner buffet, at a very special price €21 per person with beverages included. On to my review... There was a dinner buffet, beverages were included. My girlfriend had red wine I had sparkling water. There were no beverage limits. Now on to the entrée selections. Whipped sweet potatoes, roasted potatoes (they were boiled, spaghetti, something they called bolognese sauce (it wasn't even close). Roasted veal (dry as the Sahara Desert). They received various awards in 2012, but clearly 2012 is long gone. The bottom line is don't bother. They would have to essentially give the food away for me to ever consider returning, oh, and I almost forgot, their breakfast, which is included in the price of your room stay, isn't mush better, but it's free, so no complaints, except maybe for the coffee, it horrid in light of the Portuguese standards for coffee. If you do attend breakfast try to get a table next to an ocean view table.
