Bidra med feedbackAwesome! Great service and excellent food ! My husband and I throughly enjoyed our meal!
We happened upon this restaurant across from the entrance to the Duque da Terceira Garden. We were welcomed with a smile and guided to great wine and the best prepared fish. My favorite dining experience on the island.
Wife and I had the cherne (grouper) steak, which was huge and cooked to melt in the mouth perfection, and the cherne and prawn kebab, which was also very tasty. Accompanied by very decent french fries and a pleasant salad. Started with legume soup which was acceptable but less stellar. Didn't take the cover of bread, cheese etc which was 2.50 euros pp (as per Portuguese tradition this is brought along routinely without asking and you're charged for even a single bite). However, as a dinner venue it was unexciting 3/4 empty, a fluorescent strip light in the middle of the room, and a distracting TV showing football. As previous reviews have noted, the service was also poor a very distant waiter, no wine list offered (we ended up with a bottle of the house red at 6 euros which was adequate but unexciting and might have gone for something else if a choice had been offered), cover added to the bill even though we hadn't taken it, and server staring intently at the credit card machine as I entered my PIN (don't think there was any malicious intent but nonetheless disquieting).
Located just south of the small square at the Igreja de Nossa Senhora do Carmo, this lovely restaurant serves local fare at an affordable price. Every table is served delectable local cheeses upon arrival that make the visit here worth it. The seafood selection was rich, and a major attraction for all those interested in Azorean-Portuguese cuisine. We were able to relax and enjoy our meal in the traditional, slow-paced European style.
If AFFORDABLE, 5 STAR dining with class, coziness, cleanliness, professionalism, is what you are looking for, then DO NOT MISS CHEFES do PATIO. One small block from the Angra Town Center, close to the entrance of the beautiful Angra Jardin. You are treated as one should be treated in a fine restaurant! With CLASS! Whether it is seafood, fish, meats, regional cozine, you can not go wrong here. We have spent the summer here and have tried many of the resturants and ALWAYS go back to the Chefes! Superb service and dining. Nice drink selection and nice wines. Great service! And IF by some small chance you are not pleased, just kindly let your waiter know and they will immediately make it RIGHT.. no excuses, no fuss! We entertained some friends from Chicago here who had just been in Sao Miguel and they were estatic with their dinner! Do NOT leave Angra with out dining here!! Say hello to Tony, Luis, and Elizabeth!!
