Bidra med feedbackWhile visiting friends in Alaska, they took us to this gem of a restaurant. People all over rave about how good their sticky buns are, but this place may actually have the best ones on Earth! I’m literally not exaggerating. The staff was so welcoming and friendly. The portions were huge, flavorful, and everything was cooked to perfection. It has great coffeeshop with a store attached. If you’re a breakfast person this is the place to go.
I love homey little spots like this. Everybody is so nice and accommodating. The food is delicious. It’s just there wasn’t a lot of choice when we came in at 9:30. They had sold out of a lot of stuff. Ended up getting sandwich and oatmeal. And that was the last sandwich! Coffee is good.
Without a reservation we had to wait 15-20 min for a table, which wasn’t bad at all considering that we came here on a Saturday night. I ordered a curried lentil spread with pita and a Mediterranean bowl with tofu; my husband ordered the filet mignon with a side of French onion soup. Both the lentil spread and the French onion soup were great! The lentil spread came with enough pita to finish the spread. Our entrees took forever. My Mediterranean Bowl was delicious, my husband’s filet mignon was not the way he asked it. He asked for rare, it was served medium. He really liked the garnishes around the filet mignon, which made it taste better. Overall experience was good, service was ok. As far as the ambiance, it was great! Not too crowded or busy, we were actually able to talk without yelling.
I really liked the layout of this building with the attached coffee shop, lounge seating and restaurant. Would like to try the chef's seating area in the future. Our server was easy-going and made great suggestions. We appreciated the fresh vegetables and properly cooked local red salmon. No judgement when we decided on two desserts! Thanks, Devin!
We tried a variety of items from the dinner menu including one they made off menu that was a dish they have moved off. That dish the Mac and cheese with bacon is delicious. It 's a tapas but it 's a dinner sized portion and I doubt most people could finish it alone. We also tried the french onion soup which came out properly browned on top. My husband liked it. The soup of the day was tomato and it was ok. Tasted fresh but not stellar. Polenta fingers were very good and we shared between three people. We also had the Mediterranean salad with added scallops. These were Alaskan and really well prepared. Nicely seared but tender. Ciopinni soup was by far our least favorite. Nice amount of seafood. Fish was too cooked for me but my daughter liked it. Shrimp in the soup were nicely done though. What we didn 't like was the broth. It was weirdly sweet. The waiter was very attentive and offered something g else but we decided to finish the seafood. Expensive at 30$ as well. The gin and tonic sourdough was fabulous. Made with Alaskan gin from Ursula distillery. Super smooth and citrusy and delicious. One of the best G and T 'a I 've ever had and I just moved from South Africa. They have a wide variety of guns and wines from all over the world. We didn 't try the desserts.
