Texas Hot Dogs - Altoona

An Altoona staple! I grew up going here to eat lunch with my parents. Try a hotdog with everything and be sure to eat the Mac N Cheese with sauce and cheese. This is a fun greasy spoon.

Retro Charm. The original Texas Hot Dogs location has been in downtown Altoona for at least four or five decades (I'm sure probably much longer) and they still provide consistently great food and friendly service in a vintage setting with small town diner charm. Although most of their menu is hot dogs, chili, fries, etc everything is delicious and always at great prices. I love going to Texas Hot Dogs to talk to the ladies behind the counter, bask in the great local history (check out the old Hires Root Beer barrel) and enjoy great food EVERY time I go in.

Yum! C'mon, it's a hot dog place don't go in expecting haute cuisine. The dogs are my favorite in town. Get everything (chili, mustard and onions) with a side of macaroni with cheese and chili. Eating there enhances the experience. Our own little got dog diner!

Best hot dogs in Altoona. This is the only place in Altoona to get your hot dogs from. <br/ You have to get their Mac n cheese also. The Texas sauce is just right. Just enough heat to it. <br/ <br/ This is the only place in town where my family of 3 can eat as much as we can for under $20. <br/ <br/ The only thing they could do to improve the place is start delivering. It's an eat-in or take out only restaurant.
