Bidra med feedbackWe wanted a place to eat. We decided to try La Calavera. All tables are outside so dress for the weather. The menu is small, but the taste of the food is great. We looked at the menu and one of the customers told us that the food is good. We ordered, but since the food is made at home and also serve first, prepare for a short waiting period. The food was great and worth waiting!
All about this place was great and they really deserve a higher overall rating. The staff was super nice as soon as we arrived, they went through the menu. My party has the Chulupas, Tacos, Tostadas and fritesy, all great! We also have chips and salsa and they let us try a few different ones, including their salsa verde and chipotle at no cost. Can not recommend enough!
Super beautiful environment and GREAT food. The green enchiladas were a great favorite. Definitely a must to stop if you want to eat in Alpine.
Think permanent food truck with a slide de los Muertos themed eclectic outdoor seating area. The menu is simple, but counts among the best Mexican dishes I had everywhere. I had the flat enchiladas, half red, half green. Not super spicy, but the flavors are spot on! The whole family agreed. We stay in Ft. Davis, but the next day my teenagers asked (food in training, whether we could go back to the Alps to eat here again for lunch.
Best fish tacos, at a most unexpected location! We stopped at La Calavera on our way to Big Bend, and what a great surprise! It was a beautiful day to sit on their patio. This is not a dine in restaurant it is kind of like a food truck, but it is in a permanent location just off the main drag. I 100% recommend stopping here! Great service, the best food, and a quaint dining experience.
