Bidra med feedbackI dined at this restaurant last Monday, the 19th, with four friends. The atmosphere was excellent, with the restaurant beautifully decorated for Christmas. The owner, a warm and welcoming lady, made us feel right at home. Despite the restaurant being full, the service was very prompt. The drinks and meals were all of high quality and were presented beautifully. I ordered the prawn cocktail, duck, and cheese board, all of which were delicious. One of my friends is vegetarian and also enjoyed a lovely meal. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone and plan on returning in the future.
Six of us went last night to try the Xmas Menu. Everything was superb ! Very friendly and helpful staff. We all tried different items from the menu duck, lamb, turkey, sea bass, etc and everyone was extremely impressed by the delicious food all generous portions and served piping hot. One person Gluten Free and catered for without any problems. We all agreed that this is probably the best restaurant in the area. Highly recommended restaurant and we will of course return soon.
Strange set up at this place, has a fawlty towers vibe and decor without the slapstick. Having dined at the Langham London and The Fullerton Hotel, Singapore prior to arriving in Cockermouth, we were (as you may imagine) rather surprised by the choice of waiting staff and lack of diners at this restaurant. To be fair the food was decent enough, however the front of house was slightly comedic, and I suspect our wine may have came from a box tap. As we soon realised the whole area is like stepping back 30 years in time.
I’ve eaten at the Manor House a few years ago for a special occasion and recall the food being very good. We visited on a rainy September evening for the midweek menu. It’s unbelievable value with three course for £27. The food is literally amazing, everything we ordered was cooked to perfection. My usually hard to please wife gave it 10/10 and rated the dauphinois potatoes as the best she has ever eaten. Often with midweek set menus the portions are reduced and the quality of food is not as good as al a carte. Not the case at the Manor House, we left full and the food was superb. A strong recommend.
This restaurant is traditional and classic. I didn't think people who were not staying at the hotel could dine here. We made a reservation on a whim when other restaurants were fully booked for the weekend, and we were pleasantly surprised to get a table. The food was absolutely delicious.
