La Boucherie - Alençon

We love La Boucherie, especially when travelling. Which ever town your in the quality is consistent. This particular branch is excellent. The staff are friendly and the service is efficient but not rushed. We eat here quite ofteand have never had a bad meal.n

The single worst food I have ben offered in over a decade. We arrived having been recommended this as a cheap and cheerful Meat focused restaurant. On arrival we were greeted in a most un-French manner by a manager who took us to a table and told us we might have to wait a few minutes. A waitress appeared with menus came back to take our drinks orders. Then advised us in French that my colleague will return to take your food order . I 'd never heard the c word in a French Restaurant before. Then I noticed how every object in sight was branded La Boucherie. The Menu was like a glossy mag with pix of the offers. We chose what we thought was simplest (a steak and a burger). Food arrived almost instantaneously and was truly dispiritingly dreadful. Chips limp and cold. Buger bun collapsed in nano seconds, Burger not cooked through. Steak over cooked. We cut our losses and paid the bill and it was far from good value. The concept was a bizarre and misjudged amalgam of Berni Inn (1975) and an American chain.... Doubly shocking to get this in France. NEVER NEVER NEVER AGAIN!! Oh and after we declined dessert the branded items on the table were cleared with extreme rapidity as if we might have taken souvenir salt, butter, pepper, mat, paper........ ????

The restaurant is purpose built on a shopping complex, but do not let this put you off. The menu is extensive and offers a lot of choice of all courses and drinks. The staff are all very friendly and although not fully conversant with the English Language (why should they be) always explain what you are ordering. The food and drink are good and served very quickly. A nice touch when you are leaving is when the 'patron ' rings his bell (after you pay your bill) all the waitresses shout au revoir.

Un restaurant que ne me déçoit jamais. Une valeur sûre pour les amateurs de viande rouge. Je recommande
