Long, rustic wooden tables set among and under trees! What else can we ask for an informal, typical and enjoyable summer dinner? La Selvotta serves you all you need: fresh air, typical food, good service, and ample space for kids to play. The system is quite simple and works well. While pasta and drinks are served, porchetta, coppette, bread, olives, salame, cheese, etc. are ordered, paid (in the moment) and brought to the table by the client. The rest of the bill comes in the end. All foods are excellent and fresh. The bread was still hot! A pleasant evening with excellent food eaten in the fresh. Price reasonable. Excellent service, efficient, friendly, timely.
Our return visit for lunch at La Selvotta to celebrate two birthdays did not disappoint. The early October sunshine made for a pleasant outdoor dining experience. The folks at La Selvotta know their stuff: the food is hearty, flavorful and served in abundance. We ordered pasta amatriciana for two to be shared by four and it was more than enough. The porchetta, salumi, olive and formaggio could not have been better. In fact, the leftovers tasted just as good the next day. The prices can't be beat: four of us ate and ate until we could eat no more. The total cost was only 80 euros, including two bottles of vino and three bags of their delicious biscotti d'vino we bought to bring back to our apartment in Trastevere. Do yourself a favor and make the 30 minute drive from Rome to enjoy al fresco dining.
The food is fantastic to sit under the trees while you drink some chilled wine munch on a selection of cheese, ham, salami, porchetta possibly the best bread I have had in a very long time absolutely divine. And then there's the pasta Bucatini all' Amatriciana absolutely gorgeous. Price wasn't bad either. The place was absolutely pumping in the middle of the week we got there after 9pm and were lucky to find an empty table.
