Il Fornaio Sirio - ALBA

On Corso Europa not far outside the centre, the bakery has a great range of snacks, pastries and bread. I particularly liked the range of focaccia, very tasty. Not expensive and the staff are very friendly. I will return before I leave Alba.

Went in during an exploratory early morning stroll along Corso Europa, finding this corner location within a few blocks of Piazza Michele Ferrero. We were drawn in by the number of people in the shop. This is a fornaio/pasticceria, so not the place to go if you are looking for a caffe to have an espresso or cappucino. But it does have a variety of breads, sweet or savory rolls, and a nice assortment of pastries and cookies. We came away with a tasty bag full of baci di dama and brutti ma buoni, along with a couple of other selections. I have to tell you that the brutti ma buoni were exquisite--utterly fresh, superbly crisp, and delicately flavored. What a treat!
