Osaka Steak Sushi - Alamo Heights

My husband and I went to dinner with another couple that recommended this place. We made reservations for a table around the grills. This was our first time and we had a great time. Our chef was so funny and entertaining! The food was delicious (especially the rice) and the plum wine was SO good. The service was great. The food was okay to me. The fried rice was interesting with a strong pepper taste. It was not bad but not was I was looking for.

TLDR: food was great, service was poorWe were sat and our drink orders were taken promptly. Our waiter was maybe a little too casual and would lean against the booth, not make eye contact, only looked at the door and other tables, and didn’t acknowledge when we were listing our order. His whole cadence and demeanor was difficult to read.We ordered edamame, the nigiri deluxe, and a yellowtail roll. It came to our table quickly, all of it was delish and better than some other sushi places in town.Based on other reviews, maybe skip the hibachi, steak and chicken dishes. Go for the sushi.

First time here, the ambiance was very nice and chill they have option to sit at a table or booth or have the hibachi grill in front of you with a cook! The server was very polite and courteous, I asked for the hibachi combination to be spicy but I don't think they get lots of requests for spicy dishes because it wasn't spicy to my liking nonetheless very tasty! There soup with the entree was a bit salty but very tasty. Would definitely try again!

Food was amazing! Excellent happy hour ! Servers are extra friendly and they check up on you ! The dining room is huge so ambiance is always great!
