Years ago we bought their cider, but I had never eaten. I have to say that we arrived a little late and despite everything we ate wonderfully. Aduna is a sleepy little town in northern Spain, you may think there is not much to do, but if you are traveling nearby, this sagardotegia (cider house) is worth a detour. As any locals will tell you, the menu is simple and consists of 4 dishes, served one after the other: Spanish tortilla with cod, fried cod with sweet peppers, pork chops, and a dessert of membrillo. All four are spectacular! Add all the cider you can drink and you have a recipe for a great time. The day I visited it, the place was packed with families (from newborn babies to grandparents) and groups of friends, almost all of them locals having a late lunch together. The place is noisy as it is a big basement conditioned as restaurant, but it is the happy noise, identifiable in any language, of people genuinely having a good time. The locals are extremely friendly and will happily explain you how to serve cider from the huge steel tanks where it is stored, and how to best enjoy it. If you find the place and it looks like it is closed, don't panic: the entrance is on the left side of the building, not on the street, and it is easy to miss. If I'm not mistaken Aburuza is open all year round, other places nearby only open for the harvest season.
