Bidra med feedbackEaten at Katsumoto in the past, so as I passed, I decided to revisit. The owners have changed, with the current ones there about one month. The restaurant has about 30 inside seats with tables in the arcade. The menu is small and simple, with...about 20 choices. Small prices that match the size of the serve, as the meals are not large. For $16 I had 3 octopus balls, small pieces of octopus coated and deep fried. The prawns were tasty and freshly cooked, 5 on the plate with small tastes of pickles and fresh salad, with a bowl of hot rice and miso. While not the most exciting food, fresh and tasty. The miso was a little weak and the rice slightly overcooked . Otherwise a quick enjoyable meal from friendly people.
We had hopped into this eatery in Rundle mall and thought it would be a good idea to have Japanese food as we love it. Ordered teriyaki don set and had to literally wait for 20 mins to get it served had walked over in...between to let them know we were here and waiting. Poor service at the end I had to just get my food in a take away and leave. All the joy of fine dining in vain! Not again Katsumoto I am disappointed.
Tucked away in the corner of Adelaide Arcade, you would never know Katsumoto ever existed! It was my first time here today with two friends, and I have to say it wasn't too shabby. I reckon the place could do a little refurbishment considering: 1)...it looks depressing, and 2) they could get rid of some unused storage lying around and make room for more tables and chairs. Now to the food I ordered the Toriteriyaki Don Set $11.50) Potato Korroke 2 for $5), while friends ordered the Tonkatsu Set $11.50) and Yakitori Set $11.50). I found the Korroke to be a little too expensive but it tasted pretty nice nonetheless, and my set was pretty average not bad but not that great either)! This place is NOT for those wanting to dine out somewhere fancy, but is mainly for students, or workers on the run for a quick feed. Not the best Japanese food I've tasted but it wouldn't hurt to go there again if I was hungry and this place happened to be nearby. Also, pricing is standard cheap, and the staff were friendly and always said thank you to every customer when they left.
Love their Katsu curry, yakitori and tonkatsu sets. Their food is simple yet heartwarming and fulfilling, with a degree of nostalgia. The atmosphere in Adelaide Gay's Arcade adds to their quaint charm. The owners/staff may not be Japanese but the food certainly was.
I came across Katsumoto by chance when I was wandering around the Adelaide Arcade looking for lunch. I ordered the yakitori set and was very impressed by the meal. The set came with soup, rice and a small salad. The food was very well cooked...and it is clear when food is made wih some pride. I would certainly recommend it for A meal any time!
