Bidra med feedbackLa comodidad de tenerlo cerca. Buena carta y sabrosos platos.
I dined once here during my stay food was great (I had filete a la tampiquena), priced on the high side but excellent flavors. Nice atmosphere.
Recomendable
During our 7 night stay, we dined here 4 times. Simply put, it was our favorite. The food was fabulous, service great, and the ambiance couldnt be beat. For the food, we considered it to be very authentic with a great selection. My wife loved the enchiladas verde and I loved the steak tampiquena. On saturday, they had a buffet which was a great way to sample a lot of different dishes. The seafood paella was my favorite on the buffet. Also, they had a tequila tasting bar. You could get a flight of high end tequilas for about half the price of a US restaurant, for similar high end tequilas. On Thursday they had a "pazole" special which including a free "mexican tasting plate" and a shot of Mezcal (no worms in this one). The guacamole was fresh and delicous and big enough to almost be an entree in itself. On Saturday and Thursday they had a mariachi band which was great. They have a WONDERUL version of "Cuando Cuando Cuando". Dont miss them, they're great. Our service was terrific. We had Fernando the first night, and we asked for him by name every other night. He had great recommendations and steered us away from things that may have been subpar, while recommending what was fresh or an authentic dish. He also taught us the traditional/proper way to eat most of the dishes, when certain traditions applied. The ambiance was terrific. The pam trees blew in the wind beside us with the sound of the beach (and view of the beach) at a close distance. The decor was a fun but classy mexican-modern.We definitely recommend Bakal whether you're staying at the Grand Mayan or one of it's sister properties!!NOTE: We only dined here for dinner, so Breakfast or Lunch may vary. Also, this restaurant is onsite at the GRAND MAYAN, but is accessible from the sister resorts such as the mayan palace.
