Entente Cordiale - Abjat-sur-Bandiat

Really enjoy visiting the bar especially on the weekends. The owners are so friendly and mix so well with all their customers. Plenty of music and game nights. A place I must introduce all my friends to. A definte visit to suggest to all my guests who stay at my Gites and bed and breakfast. See you all soon. Andrea

We visited on a Wednesday evening when most bars in the area are shut. We’d visited before, Abjat is a lovely little town and it wasn’t too bad for a drink in the sunshine. Today was different, it was too cold to sit outside, it is a very tired looking bar that smelt of smoke. We ordered 4 demi pression which were served cloudy (Carlsberg lager) it wasn’t until we pointed it out the the lady serving us that she acknowledged a problem with the beer and changed the barrel. Surprisingly everyone else in the bar was drinking it although it was very obviously (from the look and taste) a bad barrel. Not a good experience, we won’t be returning.

I visited this bar several times during my recent stay in Abjat-sur-Bandiat, in the north of the Dordogne. During the day it is an ideal pit stop for a delicious and cheap coffee (or wine/beer, of course! . In the evening it is livelier, especially on a Friday evening, when the owner serves a selection of tapas for 1 Euro each and there is a skittles tournament. It is well used by the French locals and the British expats from quite a wide area. This is partly due to the friendly welcome provided by the owners, who also serve on the bar. British pies are always available, and a full English breakfast is held on one Sunday a month. The owners speak and understand English and everyone gets along like old friends within a very short space of time. I cannot recommend it highly enough and I'm looking forward to my next visit to the Entente Cordiale, whenever I am next in the area.

I visited this bar when staying in the area with family. Unfortunately I did not eat here but on more than one occasion I decided to have a few drinks in the welcoming and friendly bar area. Very friendly staff and nice beer too. Will return when I'm next in the area!
