Bidra med feedbackI recently ate diner at Mimo 's with my wife. We hadn 't been since we started having kids (17 yrs ago). We figured we 'd go on a date and try it again as we both like Italian food. It should have been a tip off that I didn 't have any strong memories about the food quality. The evening was perfect; the view superb! Be forewarned...the restaurant is BYOB. Not a big deal, but we hadn 't planned ahead, so we drank water. The atmosphere is nice and relaxed and the service was decent. Unfortunately the food is not. I tend to judge an Italian restaurant by its lasagna, so if I haven 't been for 17 years...yep...I ordered the lasagna. Now when it came I thought, hmmm the tomato sauce is a funny color....where have I seen sauce like this? After a few fork fulls, it was very obvious where I 'd seen and tasted sauce like this; Stouffers frozen lasagna. As I continued to eat, I was absolutely blown away that any Italian restaurant would think to serve food like this. Now, I 'm not saying it was Stouffers, but if it wasn 't, it was a hell of good copy...like an exact copy. It was the same right down to the thick noodles, sauce, small meat nuggets, little white cheese particles that you 'd find in one of those frozen lasagnas. It looks like they put some cheese on it and a few spices and threw it in an oven to melt the cheese (or thaw the frozen lasagna). That was without a doubt...the worst lasagna I have ever had in my life; and I 've had at least 50 different kinds of lasagna over the years. To call it lasagna is an insult. Sorry...my taste buds have strong feelings for lasagna. On another note...the view was great. My wife 's shrimp scampi was just OK and the salads were tasty, if a bit skimpy. Unless someone tells me of a great dish that they make, we won 't be going there again.
I love this place. The food is so good and served hot. You bring your own alcoholic beverage so the price is very reasonable.
We love Mimmo's. We visit York, Maine yearly and we always eat at Mimmo's. We are headed there next month and look forward to a Valentine's dinner at Mimmo's. The food it delicious and the staff here are great. We can't wait to get back. It's worth the trip just to go here.
As you walk along the beach, you suddenly have to turn around to find where that delicious scent is coming from. Garlic, from Mimmo's Rest. After that you just have to eat there. At dinner time, you might have to wait, it’s better to make a reservation. The hostess, I believe her name was Diane (also the owner) super nice lady, warm, charming, and down to earth. I could talk with someone like that for hours. The food was the best Italian I had ever had (and I've eaten in some very expensive places). The price was very fair. I thought his prices were going to be very high. Everyone must be happy in this place, because everything seemed to run smoothly, although very busy, and had to wait for food awhile, well worth it. I've read some of the reviews here, there was a bad one, and this person has to have been from another planet. It must take a long time to clean this place up after a night like the one we were at. Overall, Fantastic!
Each year my husband and I go to York to a long weekend and ALWAYS make sure to dine at Mimmo's. We are both Italian and think the food here is Exceptional! The price, the quality and relaxed atmosphere is a must-stop for us. Mimmo and his wife and welcoming and I love them both. You will not be disappointed! I am in the process of going there, again, this coming week and cannot wait for that delicious garlic bread, Mimmo's smiling face to greet us, and ordering something delicious from the menu.
