Oscar"s Wine Bistro - York

Ordered, waited almost an hour, finally the couple sat opposite us who had arrived and ordered after we had arrived/ordered had two meals delivered which they started to eat, then the waitress realised that the wrong table had been served, wiped the plates away and offered them to us totally unacceptable AVOID. It used to be great, but has seriously gone downhill, the waitress actually could not understand why we told her to take it back.

It was a terrible experience. We booked our table for 3.30, however the table was ready early. (1 hour early). We ordered our drinks and food and the wrong drinks turned up to our table and the wrong food. We eventually got our food after 3.30 so there was no point in turning up early. When we were finishing our food we were asked if we would like to take our drinks next door to the other pub. Why would you want to do that when we’ve not booked to be in there? The waitress then stood at the side of the table tapping on the chairs/ table making us feel uneasy. I highly recommended not going. As a York resident I will never book to go there again and I am more than happy to spread the news of the bad service, attitude of staff. I’ve not even mentioned the quality of food !

Terrible service. Having pre-booked a table we were made to feel rushed and unwelcome. We ordered our drinks, when the waitress came over they weren't our drinks. We waited an hour for our food and when it was brought out, it wasn't what we ordered so had to wait a further 20 minutes. Then when it did arrive it was luke warm. We had to ask to order more drinks and then they missed half the table. Before we had finished eating the waitresses started to clear plates away but people were still eating! Then once we had finished eating but still drinking we were asked if we'd move to the building next door. To which we replied not really we are still drinking and have only just finished eating. We were then brought the bill without being asked which was wrong; whilst the waitresses hovered around waiting for us to leave. They clearly wanted us out as they wanted the table.

The best chicken wings Popped in for a quick bite to eat, wasn’t disappointed . The pod was lovely and fresh, plentiful, and the wings were delicious. My only gripe would be the onion rings. In a place like this you should definitely be making your own. But we still enjoyed it all.

At arriving just after 1pm, we were seated and then left for 10-15 mins until we asked for a drink, then we ordered at 1.15 and the blonde lady was dismissive, arrogant and didn’t write down our order (which I now believe is why we never received our food) after waiting 35 mins, we asked again the blonde lady (wasn’t wearing a red apron so unsure is she was even waiting staff) who was abrupt and unwelcoming that it would be 1 hour without even checking, then when my partner said we have waited 35 mins she said maybe another 20 mins then, and walked off, then we asked a waitress in a red pinny who said she will check with the kitchen staff and come back but never bothered to return, after 1 hour 20 we eventually asked for the bill to pay for the drinks, a different waitress with short black hair said not too worry about the drinks and apologised for the service, however the blonde women who was stood right beside didn’t even offer an apology or a smile. She is ruthless, in the wrong profession completely.
