Bidra med feedbackAfter reading the reviews here I was a bit worried about going to this cellar door with a family group. I booked a table in the garden and was happy with the setting, particularly for the children we had bought along. They were able to run freely and play and also have some kids food (chips, crumbed chicken etc). The staff were friendly and I didnt experience any of the problems others have. We shared tapas platter, Charcuterie board, pizzas. Pizzas were underwhelming but everything else was good. Probably on the expensive side, but Adelaide Hills winery food prices seem to have found this level. Food came out reasonably quickly but we were there later in the afternoon. Lovely, relaxing afternoon and a bonus when the sun came out !
This place isn't bad by any means it's just that they took a long time for the food to come out, it seemed like they didn't adequately staff the venue for the number of guests. The food and the wine was nice they had a delicious antipasto platter but to be honest it didn't stand out from the number of other wineries offering the same fare.
My daughter had her wedding here and I had a chance to see it in operation for other guests. A stunning setting for weddings or just for a couple. Informal seating for groups as well as formal settings for weddings or other functions.
Our group of 25 had booked and paid weeks in advanced for our tastings. We arrived at 3pm as planned, and they didn't have space for our tastings and had to split into 2 groups. We were fine with this until after an hour, the second half were told they don't have the staff and time for the rest of us, so we had to sit outside in the rain, as the under cover area was full. We were offered a drink of our choice in place of the tastings, however Jan the owner was EXTREMELY horrible to us, being aggressive and patronizing to our group. When I was organising the day I had dealt with her over the phone and found her extremely rude, thinking it was a once off we booked anyway. Being a group of 25-30 year olds she had decided before we arrived that she obviously did not have any respect for younger groups, assuming we would be a disrespectful drunk young group. There were other adult groups inside also doing tastings at this time, who seemed to be getting great service. I understand they were unexpectedly busy that day, however after booking and paying in advanced we deserve the service we have paid for. By the time the second group had received and finished our one glass that was offered in place it was 4.30. We went in to buy some more wine to share between everyone and were told we can no longer buy bottles as they are closing at 5pm. The reason we chose this beautiful place was to sit and relax for a couple of hours and share some bottles of wine. Instead of being able to buy a few bottles to share between 25 we were forced to buy by the glass which was $9 each. After being here for 2 hours we had left having 2 glasses each and feeling upset, humiliated, and a waste of our day for our interstate guests. The only highlight of the day was the scenery and staff member Dylan, who was very lovely and apologetic. As beautiful as the winery is, the unwelcoming attitude from Jan does not make us want to ever return and have an awful experience like this again. A friend of mine has had a similar experience with Jan, however I am not one to not try a place because of one bad review, and decided to give it a go anyway, do not make the same mistake! What a horrible ending to a great day.
After a shaky start, this vineyard turned it around. The staff were initially unprepared for my party of 10, despite our booking. The wines were served with no information or story detailing what we were sampling. Then Jan came to the rescue. Jan, the owner, was fantastic! She engaged with my party and sold us her amazing wines. Within 5 mins, she had sold us at least 3 cases of wine and by the time we were done, we were carrying a few more. Get in. Try the reds. Worth the visit. Thanks Jan
