We live in the opposite and have met with friends for lunch, read good Google reviews. the reviews were correct. parking was easy, our dog made welcome, and table service for drinks and eating was most welcome! next to the menu there were also special areas. the number of items available was not enormous, but there was something for everyone with gluten-free options. the service was welcoming and friendly. eating was very good quality and quantity exactly right. I think they have the correct balance between menu selection and quality. they will eat cheaper, but I doubt more joy. excellent pint of thatchers! would recommend that it is just a scandal that it is not my native!

Booked here for lunch on a Saturday, staff friendly and welcoming and accomodating, we were an hour early for our booking which wasn't a problem for them. Service was good and the food was excellent. All three of us had the special Beef, Mushroom and Ale pie, good pie. Excellent value for money, plenty of space between tables and plenty of space for our large greyhound to lie down out of the way. Walked up from Winchester high street. Only a 15 minute walk but uphill, so you definitely earn your pint! My greeting was very warm and I felt welcomed. Had a pint out in the garden and enjoyed the peaceful evening. Dinner specials sounded so good but I had my heart set on fish and chips. As a tourist I had been on the hunt for a really good fish and chip experience in a pub and this was 10/10. I will be back for the dinner features though... Food quality was fresh, well prepared and excellent value for money.

We love this place. Nothing is too much trouble.Great service, great atmosphere, great food. My partner is not a big eater so a small roast lunch was provided at child's menu prices. Beautifully cooked fish and a great lamb roast. Always a good time.
