The dining experience at this restaurant was exceptional from beginning to end. Ryan provided excellent service as our server, and I highly recommend stopping by. The restaurant's rich history, beautiful grounds, and delicious food make it a must-visit. We enjoyed a 3-course meal for E47 without alcohol, and the wine selection was impressive. My husband particularly enjoyed the house-made whisky.
I have taken many leisurely walks around this property and have also enjoyed a delicious meal at the restaurant. The rooms are lovely, offering picturesque views.
I booked a room for myself and my then boyfriend and tickets for the new years eve Ball, it was our first years anniversary as we had met eachother on new years eve 2013. Unfortunately I experienced physical abuse by this man and I managed to somehow make my way from our bedroom, down the winding staircase to reception to seek help. I was met by a man who was the owner of this hotel, he ushered me back up the stairs and gave me a different room from where I had been staying. In this room he urged me not to call the Garda as it would bring unwanted attention to the hotel. Against the hotel owner's wishes, I made contact with the local Garda in wicklow and explained to them what had happened to me, they told me that they would arrive soon to the hotel to assist me and take a statement from me. When the Garda arrived, the owner of tinakilly House hotel was not at all happy and actually did an eye roll to express this. My then boyfriend was escorted by the Garda off the premises but before leaving, he was ordered by the Garda to pay the bill for the room. He used my card details on which the room was initially booked. In other words....the hotel didn't care where they got the payment from as long as they got it. It was the worse nightmare of my life and thankfully one I moved on and learned l. However, I have never been able to this day, return to tinakilly House, not even for afternoon tea, as the memories I hold of that night will stay with me forever and what saddens me most, apart from the physical and emotional abuse I suffered from my then boyfriend, was the horrible cold attitude towards me and the lack of help and support from the owner of Tinakilly House Hotel on that night, in January 2014.
Most restaurants in the Wicklow Town area you can describe as deep frozen deep fried; Not at the Tinakilly House. We ate with family in the restaurant and enjoyed the best meal I've in Wicklow for the best part of 30 years. The smoked salmon starter was delicious, and the fillet steak was cooked to perfection (for each of us) and was truely succulent steak full of rich flavour. The staff were pleasant and professional, and the wine was fair value. Compliments to the chef.
