New China Garden - Whitehorse

The Japanese cuisine here is outstanding. My friends and I ordered sushi rolls as well as noodle dishes called soba and udon. It was an unforgettable culinary experience. The service was excellent, and the staff were genuinely happy to serve their customers.

On the other hand, the staff didn't come across as particularly friendly. They seemed more focused on just getting the job done rather than providing a warm atmosphere. Additionally, we were seated at a table that was checked on infrequently, so we had to flag someone down for assistance during our meal and to get the bill.

At first glance, the restaurant doesn't make a strong impression. It feels a bit worn and dimly lit, even inside. However, the staff is extremely friendly and welcoming, which goes a long way. I ordered chicken udon and a spicy California roll. The udon was superb, with a rich broth and perfectly cooked noodles. Unfortunately, the California roll was less impressive. The rice and fish were of average quality; it was fine, but not something I would want to return for. As for the prices, I found them reasonable, and I wouldn’t want to pay more.

A comfortable atmosphere, the kind of menu one expects, good service, friendly staff and good food. A bar but with very limited selection. In addition to the tools with the imitation crab that’s become far too common in sushi houses, they offer a real crab roll!

We had two great meals at this restaurant, one eat-in and one as a takeaway. The food was tasty and reasonably price. Our waitress was amazing and gave us great travel tips. Would return without a doubt.
