Bidra med feedbackThis is an awful place, Clique was better than this. And that's saying something. They only have seafood, which ok it does say Mexican seafood in the title, but usually those places have 1 or 2 other options. But not here. Both our entrees were bad and so insanely overpriced! Same with cocktails. Below average cocktails and charged like $15 each. Service was so bad. Slow and inattentive. The interior is still the same tacky sports bar Clique was. Will never come here again.
First off…3 stars for ambience.? 4 stars for food…5 stars for service! This place has great food and a great neighborhood location but it never seems to be busy on week days. Maybe it’s the bright ohare runway lighting or the loud music. A few small changes here could make this a little more enjoyable. We loved the food and hope they make it! Oh, they don’t serve wine ?? Enjoyed the fish ceviche And the whole red snapper was quite a presentation ? it is definitely a shareable entree?the “to go” box was a giant aluminum baking dish?
The staff was very nice but the food was terrible and wildly overpriced. Of the five of us that went only my son liked his food, which was fried shrimp, even though it didn't look great. The fajitas, rice and beans were incredibly bland and the meat was low quality. The worst part was the shrimp and oyster cocktail. I have ordered this in dozens of restaurants in my life and this is the first time ever that I found it completely inedible. The shrimp weren't terrible but the oysters tasted old. And the most offensive part was instead of Mexican style cocktail sauce it was literally **** Mary mix. Made the shrimp that would have been good taste terrible. On top of all that there was old, chewed gum on the salsa caddie we were given and there was no apology for that when we pointed it out. So sad because this place is so close to home and we were really hoping to make it a regular dinner place for our family.
12:10 pm, we two were the only ones in the place... That should have told us something... Place is set up more like a sports bar, but with an Expensive Dinner Restaurant type menu (primarily written in Hispanic)... Prices range from $10 Lunch thru $40 Dinners. ..Don't think they know what there trying to be... Bar vs. Restaurant ? Lunch Steak Burrito was just barely OK . Steak meat was grisly, over cooked Dry, like it had been cooked re-heated... Came with rice beans nice presentation... Bartender was very pleasant attentive..Sorry, but we will not be going back .....
My family and I were craving Mexican food and decided to check El Delfin out today. I got the steak taco dinner, my mother got the costillas en salsa de molcajete, and my father got a mojarra al ajo. Let me just get the good stuff out of the way first. I only gave this place 1 star because their limes were pretty juicy, and they had Diet Coke which we usually get at restaurants. That's it. That's the only good thing to say. The waitress was nice, I didn't get her name, I'll say that she was cordial though . She took our order and it took about 25 minutes to get our food and we were only 1 of about 4 other small groups of people at the restaurant . There was no reason our food should have taken that long , especially since our food was old and probably heated up in a microwave. Let me explain. My steak tacos had barely any seasoning, the tortillas were crunchy and covered in grease, the rice and beans were decent. The mojarra (fish) my dad got was hard and greasy, and clearly it was cooked and then put in a refrigerator at least a day ago. The fries on the side were greasy and tough, not fresh out of the fryer. Here's the worst part, my mom got costillas (ribs) in molcajete sauce as I said before, and what she was served was chuletas (pork cutlets), and this was very obvious of course . It wasn't a salsa de molcajete either, just some watery insanely sweet sauce of some sort. We told the waitress about the order being wrong and she apologized and took the food back to the kitchen and came out and said that the chef told her they didn't have ribs so that's why they gave her a pork cutlet. Let me just say that is a huge disrespect and disgrace. Truly, the lack of respect is just incomprehensible and only a fool with no care for the food industry would want to try to trick a guest at a restaurant like that . The waitress did apologize and offer to take it off of the bill, which she did, that's only a tiny saving grace for the horrible experience . For an establishment that prides itself on social media about its wild dance nights and fancy drinks, I'd expect them to actually give a damn and put in the effort to deliver a quality experience to all their customers instead of giving them 2-3 day old food with little taste that happens to be drowning in grease (even the chips were dripping in grease). I'd expect them to NOT try to pull wool over anyone's eyes and give them a different meal than what they ordered. It's simple, if you're missing an item, let the customer know instead of trying to play and deceive them when they're there to have a nice time and give you their honest money. They can always order something else, why this establishment did something incredibly stupid is beyond me. Delfin, if you have respect for your guests and respect for the food industry and actually give a rats a or two about your business then I highly suggest actually giving the service you're supposed to instead of the below-mediocre and extremely lackluster service you gave us today, and I've seen other reviews that give accounts of similar experiences. We will not be back here, and honestly folks, if you want good Mexican food whether seafood or not, try another place, not Delfin. Terrible experience .
