Cracker Barrel Old Country Store

The waitress was incredibly friendly. I stopped by with a friend for a meal during the Covid-19 pandemic. We had to wait about 15 minutes, as many tables were left empty, making it somewhat busy. I ordered the new fried turkey cutlets, which came with squash hash and green beans. The fried turkey cutlet was juicy and delicious, topped with a nice, light gravy that wasn’t too heavy or watery. Overall, it had a great flavor. The squash hash was really tasty, though the green beans seemed to be from a can, but they were still decent. My friend had egg whites with pancakes and turkey sausage; she said it was good but preferred my turkey cutlet. I also got a side of pancakes, which were very good as well. The restaurant was clean and well-maintained.

We were seated right away since the restaurant wasn't very busy. Our waiter was a friendly young man, and only about three other tables were occupied. We placed our orders and got our drinks in just a few minutes, but it took over 25 minutes for the biscuits and cornbread to arrive. The entrees followed shortly after that. I’m not sure what caused the wait for the biscuits and cornbread. The food was generally as we expected, although I personally didn’t enjoy the fried okra. Overall, it was a typical dining experience.

The steak was cooked to perfection, just how I like it—medium rare with a touch more rare. It was simply the best steak I've ever had, and I've been to quite a few steak restaurants. It wasn't overly salted and was cooked impeccably. The service was excellent too; our server did a fantastic job. I would definitely return to this Cracker Barrel and mark it with a heart on Google Maps. Not all Cracker Barrel locations are the same; they may have a similar appearance, but the food can vary significantly in taste.

I recognize that we are still dealing with the aftermath of Covid, but this restaurant did not live up to my expectations. The service was lacking, and I was disappointed with the quality of the food. Overall, the experience was quite underwhelming. I wouldn’t recommend spending your money here.

It's a good idea to make a reservation in advance, as there's often a wait. The food here is fantastic! They serve both savory and sweet ham, and both are outstanding. Be sure to order some potatoes for the table; they tend to go quickly. You'll definitely leave feeling very satisfied. Enjoy your meal!
