Blue Dahlia Bistro - West Lake Hills

This restaurant has a fantastic location and consistently offers great meals. I lived just down the street from their downtown spot for several years and quickly became a fan of their coffee, as well as most of their soup and salad options. I’ve never had a negative experience here; it’s truly a staple for me in Austin. The service is satisfactory, and the food is always delicious.

I had the worst experience with service at this restaurant, regardless of how many times I've been there. It doesn't matter if it's just me for lunch, a quick coffee, or if the place is packed; they simply can't seem to get it right. While the atmosphere is charming, the service is consistently awful. As for the food, it’s just average—nothing special that would make you want to rave about it. It’s the kind of healthy options you could find in any typical California restaurant, which frankly isn't impressive. Some might suggest that I should just head to California if I want better food. However, I'm not from California; I travel across the U.S. and believe Austin still has a long way to go in matching good service with quality and creativity. At least they're making an effort, though.

Amazing place for super tasty food. You can tell the chef here cares about the food and provides that extra bit to make things unique.I had the Belgian waffle, and there were little bits of sugar to add a separate crunch that made it taste awesome.I could hear the waiters say corner when walking in the kitchen. That means that they care enough to let others know they are near.They run a tight ship and everyone was friendly.
