Dos Amigos - Weed

I've been a regular at this restaurant since 2014 while on the road as a truck driver, and I always enjoyed the excellent food and service. I was looking forward to having lunch there today for the first time in four years, but it seems the place suffered a fire on August 22nd. It's truly unfortunate and heartbreaking for the owners at this time. I hope they can rebuild and reopen soon.

It was just average. I recall it being better a little over a year ago. The service was excellent, and the burrito was fantastic. However, the jalapeño poppers were disappointing—they were tough, which is surprising for jalapeños! The margarita was decent. Overall, the total for the meal and drink came to $40.

Canned beans? Seriously? How difficult is it to prepare fresh beans? The taco shells were pre-made from the store, the chips tasted like they had been re-fried in grease that hadn’t been changed in months, and the salsa was completely lacking in flavor. The list goes on. Not to mention the terrible stomach ache I had the next morning. I’m baffled that anyone, especially someone from a Latino background, would say this is the best Mexican food. It was absolutely terrible.

Food is decent at best I have been through weed many times and stopped here twice. The food is not that good but the decor is unique and very homie. If your looking for something outside of chain fast food and truck spot fried food this might be a good option but you will not be blown away by their food.

I parked my truck at the truck stop and took my hungry nephew to eat at Dos Amigos. He originally wanted McDonald 's but I 'm glad he changed his mind. I ordered Camarones a la Diabla and some jalapeno poppers. My nephew ordered a Seafood Burrito. They didn 't skimp out on the shrimp whatsoever like most restaurants. The poppers were delicious as well. My nephew loved his burrito. On our way out we saw the novelty store and had to check it out. Bought my nephew a shirt and I bought a Weed, CA city sign. Definitely worth our time. Hopefully I will come through again in the future.
