Bidra med feedbackWe absolutely loved this pop-up Greek restaurant! The wines were fantastic and quite unique. My partner and I shared a premium tasting of five wines, but we ended up trying six. The food was amazing—everything we tasted was delicious. While the atmosphere on the upper floor isn’t the most noteworthy feature, it facilitates easy conversation, allowing the food and wine to take center stage, so we didn’t miss an ambiance. We really appreciated the personal attention from our host, and the expertise of the wine specialist was one of the highlights of our evening!
This is the best Greek food I’ve ever had! It's a pop-up in Prequel. The meatballs are a must-try—crispy on the outside and absolutely delicious. I tried the rabbit during my first visit and the couscous on my second, and both dishes were fantastic. The owners are from Greece and are very helpful in explaining the menu. They also offer a great selection of Greek wines.
I had an excellent experience at this restaurant, which offers authentic Greek cuisine made with locally sourced ingredients when possible. The starter plate featured a variety of fantastic Greek cheeses, delicious sun-dried black olives, and local bread served with a flavorful tomato oil spread. The dishes were beautifully presented—the lamb with pasta was outstanding, as were the meatballs. The wine list is quite unique, offering a range beyond the typical retsina. The restaurant is conveniently located near Gallery Place and Metro Center, making it easily accessible by subway. The atmosphere is trendy and slightly upscale, perfect for a visit after exploring the National Portrait Gallery!
Very strong execution due to freshness and authenticity of ingredients (just like your Greek grandma would make it), though it is a pop-up restaurant so the menu is understandably narrow. Interesting wine selection.
Oenosophia is yet another example of a pop up restaurant that hits way above its weight. Occupying the main floor at Prequel, Oenosophia is a perfect example of how DC's restaurant scene has arrived. The meals are served family style and while the menu isn't extensive, it does offer a nice array of traditional Greek dishes, exquisitely prepared and well executed. Even the meatballs (which desperately called for some type of sauce) were perfectly seasoned and delicately fried. But the biggest hit is the wine list. Greek wines don't enjoy the same type of attention as their Italian and French counterparts, but the all-Greek wine list at Oenosophia is easily the best in the City. If you love wine, then I suggest you try Oenosophia as you will soon see many of the wines on their list featured in some of DC's best restaurants. Of course, by then the price of admission will be much higher!
